BEWT system
BEWT AN/USQ-T47(V) System
The Battle Force Electronic Warfare Trainer (BEWT), officially designated as the AN/USQ-T47(V), is a training support system intended to provide stimulation to onboard tactical Electronic Warfare (EW) systems resulting in afloat operators being able to train for tactical operations using the actual tactical equipment. BEWT provides the onboard training team the ability to exercise individual, team, combat systems team, and force level operational scenarios in support of the Chief of Naval Operations (CNO) directive to move proficiency training onto ships. BEWT provides shipboard proficiency training through stimulation of onboard EW systems including the AN/SLQ-32A(V) and the AN/ULQ-16, with future provisions for the AN/WLR-1H(V)7.

FACS
Fully Automatic Computer Subsystem (FACS)
and Junction Box (JBOX)
The BEWT System is made up of Commercial-Off-The-Shelf (COTS) components that are integrated with the shipboard tactical Electronic Warfare (EW) systems through a non-tactical training interface. The BEWT System digitally stimulates the AN/SLQ-32A(V) resulting in realistic operator training on the actual tactical equipment. BEWT supports two types of training, independent and integrated.

Independent training provides stand alone digital training stimulation and matching audio to the AN/SLQ-32A(V) and AN/ULQ-16. Independent training was first introduced in the BEWT Increment 1.0 Engineering Development Model (EDM).

Integrated training provides two types of scenario driven training, Battle Force Tactical Training (BFTT) and AEGIS Combat Training System (ACTS). BFTT sends emissions training data via the Supplemental Electromagnetic Emission (SEE) Protocol Data Unit (PDU) from the Synthetic Theater of War (STOW) Local Area Network (LAN). BEWT captures this information with the BFTT Training Software EW (BTSE) and translates this information for use in the AN/SLQ-32A(V). ACTS also sends emissions training data, via the STOW LAN. When in an ACTS mode, BTSE utilizes Electronic Support Measures (ESM) file libraries along with the Electromagnetic Emission (EE) PDU to ensure accurate stimulation of the AN/SLQ-32A(V).

BMCS
Bulkhead Mounted Computer System (BMCS)
When initiating integrated training on the BEWT System, the user has the option to select the type of training to initiate, BFTT or ACTS. BTSE was first introduced in BEWT v1.5. BEWT v2.0.3 provided the capability to use ACTS generated scenario data, in addition to the BFTT generated data supported by BEWT v1.5. BEWT v3.1 adds an improved Integrated Training user interface and AN/SLQ-32A(V) antenna fault simulations, in addition to a comprehensive diagnostic capability.

The BEWT System is physically made up of two computer assemblies, multimedia monitor and a trackball keyboard. The Bulkhead Mounted Computer System (BMCS) includes a Pentium III 1.0 Ghz Computer and a pulse generator card that creates the digital stimulation for the AN/SLQ-32A(V). The Fully Automatic Computer Subsystem (FACS) performs the data extraction that results in performance monitoring and feedback to the operator after training scenario completion. The BEWT System allows the operator to create, store, edit, start, stop, and monitor scenarios used in EW Training.
